The Clifton/Whitehead Scholarship Fund

 Scholarship Deadline- 6/1/2009

Scholarship Amount- twelve $1000 scholarships

Ideal for Who?- Candidates must be graduates of an accredited high school in, work, or be a resident of Bibb, Houston, Crawford, Twiggs, Jones, Peach, or Monroe Counties pursuing an undergraduate degree.

Requirements- Completed application, essay, letter of recommendation, official high school or college transcript, SAT or ACT scores (if you are a recent high school graduate)

Essay Details- (1-2 pages) listing all honors and awards you have received in high school and college, a description of your career goals, and any special personal or family circumstances affecting your need for financial assistance

Lillian T. Cartledge Scholarship

Scholarship Deadline- 6/30//2009

Scholarship Amount- $500

Ideal for Who?- employees of Carlyle Place and their dependents, enrolled at and pursuing an undergraduate degree at a public College, University or Technical School in Middle Georgia

Requirements- Completed application form, student Aid Report of your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), including a list of other scholarship, financial aid and loan programs you have applied for; official college or high school transcript, typed essay, 2 letters of recommendation

Essay Details- (1-2 pages, double spaced) describing your life goals and aspirations.

The GIGA Inc. Scholarship Fund

 Scholarship Deadline- 6/5/2009

Scholarship Amount- Number and amount of awards vary

Ideal for Who?- Applicants must be employees of GIGA, dependants of employees of GIGA, or a graduating senior from Wilkinson County High School pursuing an undergraduate degree

Requirements- Completed application, official transcript, one-page resume listing school and community activities, awards, offices held and other relevant experiences, essay

Essay Details- (1-2 pages), describing educational plans and commitment to community service

The James Beard Foundation Scholarship Program

 Scholarship Deadline- 5/15/2009

Scholarship Amount- Cash scholarships and tuition equivalents totaling $265,900 last year

Ideal for Who?- High school seniors or graduates who plan to enroll or who are already enrolled at least part-time in a course of study leading to an associate or baccalaureate degree at a licensed or accredited culinary school

Requirements- Students are evaluated on grade point average, extracurricular activities including work experience, letters of recommendation, and financial need

Essay Details- Only two of the several offered scholarships require an essay.  Less than 250 words on: (1) What do you find most inspiring, impressive or notable about James Beard’s life and work in American cuisine? (2) Explain your interest in Turkish/Eastern Mediterranean cuisine.

Georgia Health Information Management Association Scholarship 

Scholarship Deadline- 6/1//2009

Scholarship Amount- $500

Ideal for Who?- Students enrolled in an accredited associate, baccalaureate, or masters degree program in health information management

Requirements- GPA of 3.0 or higher and involvement in the following activities:

a. Attendance at HIM association meetings
b. Service on HIM association committee(s)
c. Employment in an HIM department
d. Participation in school activities
e. Organization of a major class endeavor
f.  Community work

Nordstrom College Scholarships 

Scholarship Deadline- 6/1/2009

Scholarship Amount- 40 students are awarded a $10,000 scholarship, which is paid over four years to the college of his or her choice

Ideal for Who?- Metropolitan Atlanta high school juniors who maintain a strong G.P.A., have made a substantial contribution to their community, are involved in school activities, and who demonstrate a financial need
